According to BusinessInsider.com, not only did Beyoncé fake her performance, the Marines band was forced to fake playing their instruments as well.
It’s not a crime of course, but, still…
Maybe these performers are strictly recording studio artists who know they can’t live up to their own reputations when faced with doing something live.
Do we expect too much from our entertainers? Do we expect perfection every time?
A couple of years ago, I remember watching an awards show — the Country Music Association awards, I think — and I remember not being impressed at all with Taylor Swift’s performance. Her voice came off as being really weak, and she didn’t sound like she was even in tune with the band. Maybe I would have been happier with a lip-synched song or two.
But all in all, it just seems dishonest. Maybe they should just give us a video showing the actual performance in the studio, and leave it at that. With all of the dishonesty that took place between the candidates leading up to the election last November, you’d think that the people organizing the events at the inauguration would want to stay as far as possible from anything that might smack of being less-than-honest.
Such is life in the 21st century, I guess.

Live performances on TV are almost always terrible. The acoustics just don’t translate through the TV.
